THE MYSTERY HUNTERS
(Previously known as the Sunday School)
The Mystery Hunters meet in the Church Hall,
This session our Mystery Hunters began on the first Sunday in September, and it was very encouraging to see many of our members back amongst us, as well as some new children. Our staff are all fired up and raring to go, looking forward to the challenges this new term will bring.
Some of our lessons have included finding out who Jesus really was, and what He taught. We also found out about Elisha, a man of God and still to come this year we will learn about three good Kings.
Our teaching and children's workbooks are Go Teach and Come Learn respectively. These are very colourful and interesting and full of lots of exciting and new things to learn and do.
We especially enjoyed taking part in the Family Services and always look forward to being welcomed into the Church on Sunday mornings.
Our teachers and helpers were busy helping with the Autumn Fayre and alongside the Streetwise team we had some old fashioned fairground stalls, beat the goalie, hotdogs and a chocolate fountain, all of the above a great hit with young and old alike.
Also we are planning a treat to thank all the children for their attendance and hard work over this last term.
GOODY BAG: Every time the children attain 5 weeks at Mystery Hunters they are allowed to choose something from the goody bag and this can be a very exciting time for them, especially if the teachers forget !!! OOPS!!!
This session we have been appointed some new elders to look after us as a group, these are Fay McAuley, George Carson and Alan Lynn, and I'm sure these elders will be a great support and help to the staff and children of the Mystery Hunters.
Our sincere thanks go to all parents and grandparents who bring their children along week by week, it is very much appreciated. Thanks also to the teachers and helpers for all their hard work and dedication. Their energy and enthusiasm is remarkable.
Lastly our thanks go to the children in our care, for allowing us the opportunity to guide their Christian learning, and also in return for teaching us some things we just didn't know.
On behalf of the Mystery Hunters I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very peaceful and joyous Christmas and all good wishes for the year ahead, which I have no doubt will be full of challenges and many happy times.
JOSIANE
The Mystery Hunters have supported Uhiriwe Josiane from Nyanza, Rwanda from the age of 5 when she started School. She will be aged 17 in July of this year. The financial support they give pays for her education.
Josiane lives with her Mum, Dad and two sisters. Both her parents work for Farmers. During the Rwanda uprising, her father was put in prison but is now back with his family again.
Josiane tells us she was able to buy a lamb for the family and bails of cloth, books and pencils for school with the Mystery Hunters financial support. This support will continue until she is 18 years old and of age to leave School.
Each year the Mystery Hunters send Josiane cards for Easter, Christmas and her Birthday which she is delighted to receive.

Project: RW-149, Nyanza Student Centre
Location: Nyanza, 1km south of Nyanza City, Rwanda
Josiane lives in the hillside community of Nyanza, home to approximately 60,000 residents. Typical houses are constructed of dirt floors, adobe walls and corrugated tin roofs. The primary ethnic group is Banyarwanda and the most commonly spoken language is Kinyarwanda.
The regional diet consists of maize, beans, bananas and potatoes. Common health problems in this area include malaria, worm infestations and malnutrition. Most of the adults in Nyanza work as subsistence farmers and earn the equivalent of £5 per month. This community needs more land for farming, school fees, scholastic materials, tutorial classes and evangelism.
The Mystery Hunters sponsorship allows the staff of Nyanza Student Centre to provide Josiane with Bible teaching, choir, medical check-ups, hygiene and nutrition lessons, hygiene supplies, games, field trips, school fees and scholastic materials, tutorial classes, home visitation by project staff and transportation to health centres. The centre staff will also provide training on child developments and meetings for the parents of Josiane.
Rwanda Facts
About 60 per cent of the population lives below the poverty line. Rwanda has one of the world's worst child mortality rates with one in five Rwandan children dying before their fifth birthday.
