STREETWISE YOUTH GROUP
Streetwise began our 6th year in August with approximately 50 kids of primary age. These numbers have remained constant over the last 4 months with many returning for another year and a much larger increase in new members than we have previously experienced.
As Halloween fell on a Monday night this year we took the decision to cancel our annual Halloween party to let the kids go "guising" and instead opted for our first Guy Fawkes themed night. Our younger children drew some lovely fireworks pictures with coloured chalk and black paper and went outside with glow sticks to watch as we released a Chinese Lantern, much delight was taken from watching this sail up and over the church hall. Our older children were treated to a Fireworks display (many thanks to Ian McCaughie for setting these off for us), followed by hotdogs to warm them back up!
The church fayre was a big success for us this year, as we sold all of our Hot Dogs in a record 45 minutes (thanks to the aroma of the onions I suspect…). As our venture into onions has proved so popular this year we are considering further expansions for next year - watch this space!!
Our Nail Bar was also a big success again this year - thanks go to Robyn McIntosh and Laura Cunningham for all their hard work on this (photo below), many hours were spent making up their advertising poster as well as manning their stall on the day and I did see many happy customers still sporting their nail varnish on the Sunday morning. Thanks also to the members of the congregation who donated nail varnish to them to use on the day.
Our Christmas planning is now underway and with so many kids attending on a weekly basis, I am sure our special visitor will be very busy at the party this year!!!
If you know of any children who would like to attend Streetwise then our times are as follows -
P1-P4 - 6.15 to 7.15 every Monday night
P5-P7 - 7.30 to 8.45 every Monday night
